Comedy review: Beak Speaks

Edinburgh Festival Fringe: In a faded leotard and with a pencil stuck in her bun, Gillian Beak is here to introduce us all to the dramatic arts.

Underbelly Cowgate (Venue 61)

**

During the course of the hour this spoof acting lesson includes breathing exercises, visualisations to unblock your chakras and exercises which involve sniffing fellow members of the audience.

Miles Jupp makes an entertaining appearance as an ex-lover, and there is a wonderful use of a trampoline to get on and off the stage. But the comic elements are weirdly old-fashioned, the writing turgid and the character of Ms Beak is not sufficiently well drawn.

Until 27 August. Today 4pm.
