Clubbing: Four for the weekend

FOUR weekend club nights worth checking out.

UNSEEN pres IFORMAT (LIVE)

Joe McGeeghan started out as one half of the BCR Boys, signed to PERC Trax and Sleaze Records - a partnership which resulted in headlining Berlin’s Berghain and Tresor, the pinnacle stage for techno. Not one to rest on his laurels, McGeeghan drummed up new material while mastering tracks for some of the biggest producers in the business. Under his IFORMAT moniker he exports an aggressive sound influenced by post-punk, creating sci-fi -inspired dystopian soundscapes. Neil Templer and Patrick Walker support a voyage into the shadowy future.

Studio 24, Calton Rd, tomorrow, 10.30pm-3am, £8/£10

CONFUSION IS SEX ROCKSTAR PARTY

Post-apocalyptic futurism, squeezed into a matchbox of fire-crackers and slid into a scientist’s white coat while sucking a gobstopper, travelling at mach 1... (and with a heavy dose of sensual sexuality). Maybe an accurate description if made into a bizarre movie project and filmed by David Cronenberg. Edinburgh’s favourite Alternative night out is back with a ‘rock star’ theme, so get dressed up and prepare to dance the night away to a score of burlesque, saucy cabaret, set against rockabilly, blues, industrial, electro, metal and... rock.

LIQUID ROOM pres CLASSICS

Bringing back the classics for one time only are Tommy Kay (Lurvely), Fisher & Price (Taste), Alan Dobson (Progression), Kev Wright (Sublime) and Kevin Jones (Steppin Out).
