Call for all-Gaelic schools

AT LEAST four new Gaelic schools are needed in the Highlands to meet parent demand, councillors have been told.

Alex Salmond, the First Minister, last week opened Scotland's first purpose-built Gaelic school in Inverness .

But growing interest in Gaelic-medium education has led members of Highland Council's Gaelic committee to consider setting up new schools or redesignate existing buildings.

The council's Gaelic Plan proposes another two Gaelic schools, in addition to the new primary in Inverness.
