Cabaret & Variety review: The Omnitorium's Rotating Roster of Erudite Amusements and Motley Delights

Edinburgh Festival Fringe: The trouble with rotating rosters is that you may land on an underwhelming spin of the wheel.

Assembly George Square Theatre (Venue 8)

**

Beyond the presence of puppet double act Boris & Sergey – with a reprise of Boris’s hit interpretative dance to Wuthering Heights – and the wicked Red Bastard, with a mellow routine on lies – most of the turns on the roster I witnessed appeared to be making it up as they were going along. This led to generally underwhelming results, despite the eccentric chivvying of hostess Helen Duff. But it was late. Add lashings of alcohol and I’m sure it will all be fine.

Until 27 August. Today 11pm.
