CRACKDOWN

Third-person shooter game Crackdown was developed by Realtime Worlds - a video game developer based in Dundee founded by David Jones, who also created GTA and Lemmings.

Microsoft Game Studios bundled Crackdown with an access code to the multiplayer test version of Halo 3. Following this, the game sold 1.5 million copies in its first six months of release in 2007.

The game was received extremely well and named the ‘best action and adventure game’ and ‘best use of audio’ at the 2007 BAFTAs.

It’s popularity meant that it was followed up by the release of Crackdown 2 which also sold over one million copies. It’s rumoured that Crackdown 3 will be released in summer 2016.
