Andy Murray tweets in jest over Christmas jumper

The former Wimbledon and US Open champion had his picture taken while wearing a distractingly detailed and brightly coloured Christmas jumper.

Along with a completely deadpan expression he sarcastically tweeted: “As you can see I’m chuffed to bits with Christmas jumper. #FireInTheBelly.”

The post was retweeted by thousands of Murray’s followers, including fellow professional tennis star Victoria Azarenka who also added the comment “that is just brilliant”.

This was Murray’s first Christmas after becoming engaged to long term girlfriend Kim Sears in November.

He also appeared in a photo under his brother Jamie Murray’s Twitter handle as the pair showed off new Arsenal and Manchester United football strips.

Andy has his back to the camera pointing to the name and number of Gunners’ striker Alexis Sanchez.

The tweet reads: “Christmas family tradition strikes again! @manutd @arsenal”
