Yogi wants Hibs to turn back the clock

JOHN HUGHES today admitted there will be an eerie atmosphere at Easter Road on Saturday as the east terracing, home to Hibs most vocal fans, disappears to make way for a new 6,400 stand.

But he's hoping his players can turn back the clock, recalling how Hibs went on to finish third and make the final of the Scottish Cup as the old West Stand disappeared ten years ago.

He said: "It's going to be strange without the fans on that side, I'm sure there will be something of an eerie atmosphere.

"However, I'm looking on the positives. When the old West Stand came down we finished third and got to the Scottish Cup final under Alex McLeish.

"We'll now have Hibs fans behind both goals for a change and no doubt they'll be making themselves heard."

Hibs will be seeking to end a run of five matches without a win, a record which has seen them slip to fourth place in the table, against a Kilmarnock side which has scored only three goals away from home in the league this season.

Given that record, Killie boss Jimmy Calderwood will be hoping striker Kevin Kyle returns on schedule from a trial with Russian outfit Spartak Nalchik.

Kyle was due to play a trial match at their pre-season training camp in Turkey before flying back to Scotland tomorrow to prepare for Saturday's match but Hughes insisted he won't be making any changes to his plans.

He said: "You prepare for everything. I have to admit I was surprised to be told they've only scored three goals away from home especially with what they have at their disposal. But they've enjoyed a lift from their new manager and they are always well-organised, hard working and have some wonderful players."

Saturday's match kicks off at 2.00pm due to the lack of floodlights following this week's demolition work at Easter Road.
