Woodward decision postponed

THE British Olympic Association has postponed a decision on the future of Sir Clive Woodward's coaching programme, but whatever the outcome the former England rugby union manager will remain as the organisation's director of sport.

The BOA's board has received a detailed report on Woodward's Olympic coaching programme by analysts Deloitte and a decision will be made at the end of the year.

The programme is just one of three areas of responsibility that Woodward, who guided England to the Rugby World Cup in 2003, has at the BOA.

The BOA said in a statement: "The report provided an analysis of the British Olympic coaching programme to date, along with a number of options and potential opportunities regarding its construct in the future, all of which will be explored fully by the BOA board and management team during the remainder of 2010. The BOA board reaffirmed the need for quality coaching at every level of sport."
