Woods drops six spots to 44th in world rankings

Tiger Woods has dropped a further six places to 44th in the world rankings.

Fellow American Webb Simpson leapt from 27th to 14th with his play-off victory over Chez Reavie in the Deutsche Bank Championship, the second of the FedEx Cup play-off events.

Thomas Bjorn’s victory in the Omega European Masters in Switzerland on Sunday lifted him from 59th to 28th, one spot above leading Scot Martin Laird. Stephen Gallacher is still in the top 100 at 98th, with Luke Donald holding on to his position as No 1 ahead of Lee Westwood.
