Women's Scottish Cup: Hibs triumph over Celtic after penalty shoot-out

Hibernian beat Celtic in a Unite Scottish Cup quarter-final cliffhanger yesterday, beating their Glasgow rivals 3-2 on penalties. Jo Love had scored for Celtic and Debbie McWhinnie for Hibs before the tie was settled on spot-kicks.

Meanwhile, Glasgow City cruised into the semi-finals with an 18-0 win against Hearts, underlining the gulf in class between the Premier League leaders and the Scottish First Division side. Leanne Ross scored seven of the goals. City manager Peter Caulfield said: "In any cup tie the ultimate objective is to get through to the next round and I am delighted we have been able to do that. However, as much as many people would have expected us to overcome lower division opposition we paid Hearts every respect and went about our business in the right manner.

In the other quarter-finals, goals from Lana Clelland and Jayne Sommerville saw Rangers edge out Hamilton Accies 2-1, while Celtic Reserves beat Inverness 3-1.
