Wilson rues busy schedule

ENGLAND'S Oliver Wilson is hoping a "schoolboy error" will not ruin his bid for a first European Tour title in the Deutsche Bank Players' Championship.

Wilson went into today's second round in Hamburg just a shot behind compatriot Simon Khan after an opening 66, six under par. But the 26-year-old former Walker Cup star from Mansfield admits he is mentally exhausted in his sixth event in a row, having also squeezed in 36 holes in one day in Open Championship qualifying at Sunningdale.

He said: "I'm pretty exhausted. Physically I feel okay but mentally I'm not really there. I was fine all the way until Open qualifying on Monday, July 2 and still played the same week in Ireland which was a schoolboy error really."

"I feel like I should be in contention most weeks but just making silly mistakes and ending up finishing in the middle of the pack which is obviously not good enough."
