Whitburn in drop danger as boss quits

WHITBURN are in serious danger of being relegated from the East Region Super League.

The Junior outfit, whose manager Derek Strickland has informed them he will leave at the end of the season, have three matches left as they bid to secure their top-flight status.

They desperately needed a good result at Musselburgh on Saturday but came up against a strong Olivebank side, who clinched a 2-0 win thanks to a second-half double from Paul Tansey.

Meanwhile, Bathgate travelled to Hill of Beath and drew 2-2, their goals coming from Jim Lister and Alex Lurinsky.

In the Premier League, Tayport won the race for the title by beating Forfar West End 2-1.

The South Division programme ended with West Calder and Haddington fighting out a seven-goal thriller.

West Calder had taken the lead through Daniel Wolfe but Haddington drew level with Ross Clark. Arran Lawrie gave West Calder the lead again only for Haddington to equalise then go ahead with two goals from Ross Ferguson. Lawrie levelled things before Gavin McCann got the winner for West Calder in the dying minutes.

Dalkeith were beaten 2-1 at home by Blackburn. Grant Plenderleith gave Blackburn the lead with David Beattie equalising for Dalkeith but sub Danny Campbell scored a super goal for Blackburn to take all three points.

Stoneyburn and Dunbar served up a scoreless draw while Edinburgh travelled to Sauchie and won 3-2.
