Western hold Wanderers

VIKKI Bunce was again on target for Dundee Wanderers with a well taken double, but the Taysiders lost their perfect record when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Milne Craig Western in the Subway indoor national league.

The low scoring in the confrontation was due to a combination of missed chances, particularly by Western, and some brilliant goalkeeping by Wanderers' Carmin Dow and Amy Gibson for the Glasgow outfit.

After early spurned chances by both sides, Western put their noses in front when Angela Davie scored from open play. But within two minutes Bunce struck from the spot to bring the scores level. As the first half came to a close Western's Karen Thomson was sent to the sin bin and Wanderers missed an overtime set piece.

After the interval Thomson made amends when she converted a penalty corner after Dow has stopped the initial shot to put Western ahead. Almost inevitably Bunce provided the equaliser with a low shot from a set piece.

Grove kept themselves in contention with an 8-3 drubbing of their second string. Ali Bell was the main provider with four, Lynsey Glass grabbed a double and Jaime Lyon and Louise Carroll got the others.

In the relegation pool CALA Edinburgh moved away from the drop with a 5-3 victory over Reid Kerr Kelburne as Inverleith lost 3-1 to bottom side Clydesdale.
