Watt set to tackle Duns

Heriot-Watt UNIVERSITY, who will be playing in the East Seniors Premier Division for the third consecutive season, continue their build-up to the new campaign with a friendly against Border Amateur League side Duns at Riccarton Campus tonight.

The students have already played three Juniors clubs - Carnoustie Panmure, Haddington and Spartans Juniors - and their head coach, former Hibs player Michael Renwick, is happy with the progress being made by the new additions to his squad.

"We have played three high-profile games and trained hard although, as is the case with students, not all of them have been available all of the time," he said. "Tonight will be another test for us before our opening league match on 14 August."

Leith Athletic, from the First Division, host Premier Division Lothian Thistle at Leith Links.

Also tonight, Vale of Leithen entertain their near neighbours Leithen Rovers, who also play in the Border Amateur League, at Victoria Park.

Last night's friendly between Edinburgh City and a Raith Rovers XI was called off at the last minute because of the unplayable surface at the neutral venue at Pitreavie.

All of tonight's games kick off at 7pm.
