Watsonians 15 - 13 Stirling County: Second half rally clinches first win for Watsonians

Scotland cap Simon Webster may have made his long awaited comeback, but it was Watsonians coach Marcus Di Rollo who was sporting the biggest smile after his team's first win of the Premier One season on Saturday.

Di Rollo has been involved in rugby a long time and knows that this was not a vintage performance by his side. However, the way they fought back from 13-3 down against Stirling County to win 15-13 at Myreside will give them a big boost.

The home coach said: "I am really pleased for the guys as they dug deep to get this victory. In the second half we really upped our game, scored two good tries and really should have won more comfortably."

Some of the anticipation was removed from the match when Watsonians were informed that Webster, one of their pro draft players, was only allowed to play for 40 minutes, so he was removed from his team's starting line-up and put on the bench.

The only bright spark of the first 40 minutes came in the closing stages when the sides were tied at 3-3. County used their talented outside backs to break upfield before replacement back-row Bengy Barsanti ran a good line to score a converted try.

Teenage stand-off Stuart Edwards then added a penalty for a ten point lead at the break, but the second half belonged to the hosts. With Webster now on the wing they scored a try after 45 minutes, captain Alan Nash going over, and 18 minutes later they took the lead with the best move of the game.

After a slick midfield move, Nash burst through the County defence and fed back-row Andrew Porter who went over for a converted score and the win.
