Wallace Booth and Lee Harper are on track in Thailand

WALLACE Booth and Lee Harper both passed the first test on the road to the Asian Tour in stage one of the qualifying school in Thailand at the weekend.

But there was disappointment for their fellow Scot, Barry Hume, who failed to secure a place in this week's final.

Comrie rookie Booth, who turned professional after last September's Walker Cup, closed with a three-under 68 for a four-under 280 and grabbed the 17th of 25 qualifying spots on offer.

Musselburgh man Harper, the Scottish Boys' champion in 1999, signed off with a one-over 72 but still squeezed through on the 281 limit.

Glasgow golfer Hume, who played on the Asian Tour in 2006 and 2007, saw his hopes of a return dashed with a 74 as the former Scottish Amateur champion finished down in 45th on a 286.
