She improved her own records in 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly and 100m individual medley and, in addition, set a new record mark in the 100m freestyle, a new event for deaf swimmers at the championships.

Lothian’s Callum MacLeod from Deanpark Primary School was the first deaf swimmer home in the boys 100m freestyle event and as such also set a new junior record mark.

The final two records were broken in the boys open class by Robert Dalgleish from James Young High School. His first record was in 50m backstroke where he took an incredible 2.2 seconds off the previous record set in 2007 and he finished the day with another record in the 100m freestyle. The top girl and boy junior swimmer trophies went to Walkup and Dalgleish.
