Volleyball: Treble is still on for City

City of Edinburgh swept into the men's Scottish Volleyball Cup semi-finals with a straight sets win over Bon Accord.

The Capital side had lost to Bon Accord in the league in December but have now won their last three matches.

Edinburgh reached the last four 25-17, 25-22, 25-20 and remain on course for the treble after turning their season around. The Scottish Cup is the one trophy that has so far eluded Edinburgh and player Barry McGuigan is keen to change that statistic with his re-cast squad this year.

Kilmarnock Blaze are likely to provide the major obstacle to that and they moved easily into the semi-finals with a 25-14, 25-12, 25-14 win at lower division Bellshill Cardinals.

Edinburgh have already won the John Syer Trophy and have put themselves in a strong position to reach the play-offs.

City of Edinburgh II lost 2-3 in the quarter-finals of the Thistle Bowl to Dundee II after holding a two-set lead.

In the women's Scottish Cup, holders Troon PA eased into the semi-finals with a 25-12, 25-18, 25-6 win at South Ayrshire.
