Volleyball: Jets requiring propulsion

EDINBURGH Jets have to play catch-up in their bid to preserve their status in the men's first division of the Schelde Sports Scottish Volleyball League.

The Capital team have been leap-frogged at the bottom by Troon PA ahead of tomorrow's difficult trip to City of Glasgow Ragazzi. Jets spent last week idle after their relegation match with Team Fife had to be called off following a leak in the roof at Broughton High School.

Jets now trail the Ayrshire side by just a point with a set difference almost identical but have the game in hand. Team Fife are not out of the relegation frame yet and host Troon tomorrow.

At the other end of the table, City of Edinburgh have already guaranteed themselves top seeding for the league play-offs with their unblemished record. Edinburgh host closest challengers and reigning champions Glasgow Mets and Kilmarnock host Bon Accord in a match which could well decide who Edinburgh meet in the play-off semi-finals.

In the women's first division, City of Edinburgh can still catch Troon PA at the top but must win their final two matches and hope the Ayrshire side slip up.
