Volleyball: Jets firing on four out of five fronts

Edinburgh Jets celebrated a near-perfect weekend of volleyball with four of their five teams registering victories.

In the first round of the men's John Syer Trophy, the club took care of first division rivals Troon PA in straight sets 25-14, 25-23, 25-17.

In the women's competition, Edinburgh Jets convincingly beat South Ayrshire 25-14, 25-14, 25-17 and Jets II won at Glasgow International 25-22, 25-16, 25-20. Jets III also advanced in the women's Scottish Cup, winning a tight three-set match with NUVOC II.

The only blemish was in the men's Scottish Cup where Grassmarket Jets headed north to face Beacon in a tricky tie and lost 21-25, 15-25, 15-25.

Elsewhere in the men's John Syer Trophy, City of Edinburgh recovered from their league defeat by Glasgow Mets the previous week to beat Glasgow Ragazzi in straight sets.
