Volleyball: Jets expect classy game

Edinburgh Jets promise a volleyball spectacular tomorrow as they host a series of high-profile matches at St Augustine's High.

In addition to staging two key Schelde Sports Scottish League matches, Finnish club Nattarin Jujun will be there for a couple of challenge matches.

There is plenty at stake in the opening match (10.00am) when Jets face Troon PA in the men's first division. Jets are third bottom but a win would go a long way to preserving their top-flight status for next season.

The Ayrshire side have yet to record a league win so another defeat would leave them in a perilous position.

In the women's first division, Jets host unbeaten Troon PA in what promises to be another hard-fought affair.

Meanwhile, City of Edinburgh have been handed a tough draw in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals as they seek to win the trophy for the first time. The league champions will face Aberdeen's Bon Accord, who defeated them in the league last month. In the women's Scottish Cup, holders Troon PA visit South Ayrshire.

Scottish Cup Quarter-final draw: Men: Polonia Jets or Troon PA v City of Glasgow Ragazzi; Kilmarnock II v Dundee; City of Edinburgh v Bon Accord; Bellshill Cardinals v Beacon or Kilmarnock Blaze; Women: Edinburgh Jets II v North Grampian; Su Ragazzi v NUVOC or Lenzie; South Ayrshire v Troon PA; City of Edinburgh v Edinburgh Jets. Ties to be played on Feb 12.
