Volleyball: Hammond has City on song

CITY OF EDINBURGH need just one more win to complete the regular season unbeaten in the men's first division of the Schelde Sports Scottish volleyball league.

Simon Hammond returned from injury to help them beat Glasgow Mets 25-22, 25-19, 25-17 on Saturday and they now have to beat Bon Accord to keep their unbeaten record ahead of the play-offs and Cup semi-finals.

Team Fife secured their place in the top division by beating relegation rivals Troon PA in straight sets. The Ayrshire side are now locked in a dogfight with Edinburgh Jets, who are currently bottom but have a match in hand. Jets went down 19-25, 18-25, 20-25 at City of Glasgow Ragazzi.

In the women's first division, City of Edinburgh impressively took care of Edinburgh Jets II 25-6, 25-15, 25-13. Leaders Troon PA beat relegated South Ayrshire.
