Volleyball: Edinburgh eye a play-off spot and aim for the treble

CITY OF EDINBURGH can all but book their Schelde Scottish Volleyball League play-off place ahead of schedule if they can beat Kilmarnock tomorrow.

Glasgow Ragazzi's midweek defeat by Glasgow Mets has put unbeaten Edinburgh now virtually out of their reach.

Edinburgh will not take Kilmarnock lightly, though, as they have steadily improved this season and have ambitions of silverware themselves after beating Bon Accord in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals last weekend. But Edinburgh, who have already won the Top Teams Cup, are eyeing a domestic treble and have drawn City of Glasgow Ragazzi in the Scottish Cup semi-finals in March, with Mets and Kilmarnock in the other semi-final.

In the women's first division, there is a Capital clash between Edinburgh Jets and City of Edinburgh, which could go a long way towards deciding the final make-up of the play-offs.

Second-placed Jets are just a point behind unbeaten Troon PA but are three points clear of Edinburgh who have a game in hand.
