Volleyball: City side facing tough trip

City OF EDINBURGH face the hazardous trip to
Aberdeen to take on Bon Accord in the men’s Schelde Sports Scottish Volleyball League
aiming to keep their title bid on track tomorrow.

The Capital side have the luxury of a four-point lead at the top after last weekend’s win over Edinburgh Jets but they know they must keep focused against Bon Accord who currently lie fourth and are hoping to cement a play-off place.

Player-coach Barry McGuigan has warned his players against any slip-ups as they want to avoid a winner-take-all final day clash with reigning champions Kilmarnock Blaze. He would like nothing more than to travel to Ayrshire in March with the title already wrapped up.

Kilmarnock have now moved back into second place ahead of Jets and it now looks like a straight race between the top three for the title.

Jets travel to second-bottom South Ayrshire hoping to return to winning ways, but they will also be looking to City of Edinburgh to take their eye off the ball in the weeks ahead.

In the women’s first division, relegation-threatened NUVOC host second-placed North Lanarkshire at Firrhill High School.
