Volleyball: City men face difficult task in cup semis

City of Edinburgh will need to overcome the best cup record in Scottish volleyball if they are to reach their third Scottish Cup final in Wishaw tomorrow.

The Capital side, who have never won the trophy, take on Kilmarnock Blaze, who have won the trophy a record 13 times, in an eagerly-awaited semi-final. Edinburgh, the current league champions, are still on course for the treble, having won the John Syer Trophy earlier this season and having booked their place in the league play-offs last weekend.

The other semi-final is an all-west affair with City of Glasgow Ragazzi facing second division Kilmarnock II.

In the women's semi-finals, City of Edinburgh face an early start in their tie with Lanarkshire-based Su Ragazzi with the first ball served at 9.30am tomorrow.

Three-times winners Edinburgh will start as favourites but Ragazzi have been working hard in training as they seek to take the one trophy that has so far eluded the club.

In the other semi-final, non-league North Grampian - in the semi-finals for the second year in a row - take on holders Troon PA.
