Volleyball: City go west in Syer final bid

Unbeaten City of Edinburgh bid to reach the first final of the Scottish volleyball season tomorrow but could not be facing a more difficult hurdle.

Edinburgh, who lead the men’s Schelde Sports Scottish League with an unblemished record, travel west to face Glasgow Mets with a place in the John Syer Trophy at stake.

Mets, the reigning league champions, have only lost once this season – to City of Edinburgh in the league – but will be seek revenge in an extraordinary penultimate round to this season’s competition.

Four teams have 100 per cent records in the John Syer Trophy and they square up head-to-head tomorrow with Kilmarnock Blaze and City of Glasgow Ragazzi meeting in the other final group match.

It is an identical situation in the women’s competition, with Edinburgh Jets hosting City of Edinburgh and Troon PA taking on Su Ragazzi.
