Volleyball: City face third title play-off

City OF EDINBURGH had to put their title celebrations on hold after Troon PA rallied in the second leg of their women's Schelde Sports Scottish Volleyball League play-off final yesterday.

The Capital side were in a strong position after winning Saturday's first leg 25-16, 25-17, 25-11, but Troon turned it around overnight by winning the second leg at Belmont Academy 26-24, 5-25, 25-18, 25-21 to force a third and decisive clash this Saturday.

It seemed an unlikely result after Saturday's match but Troon coach Vince Krawczyk reaped the rewards for meticulously studying the video from the first match.

"We reorganised and fought for the game," he said.

Glasgow Mets regained the men's title after beating Kilmarnock Blaze twice over the weekend in straight sets.
