Vladimir Weiss keen to extend Ibrox loan

Vladimir Weiss wants to extend his Rangers loan into next season and will ask his parent club Manchester City's permission during the summer.

The Slovakian midfielder has two years remaining of his City contract, but still senses he is some distance away from the first team.

His preference now is a second term on loan at Ibrox and he believes he has done enough to persuade Rangers manager-in-waiting Ally McCoist.

"If Manchester City say I can maybe go on loan again, if they don't need me for next season, then I'll be more than happy to stay here," said Weiss.

"If Rangers want me again then I'd be delighted to stay but really it's up to Manchester City. I love City, I grew up there, but I don't know what's going to happen this summer with them. Playing for Rangers has helped me and given me a lot of confidence and self-belief. I think Ally is the right man to be taking over from Walter and he's been brilliant with me so far. I will sit down with Manchester City and speak to them about their plans, but I'll tell them I'm really enjoying myself here."
