Vikki Bunce eager for switch to England

Vikki Bunce, the VWS Dundee Wanderers' midfielder, could be the next Scottish internationalist to head for England on the Great Britain and London Olympics ticket.

If she does so, the Taysider would follow in the footsteps of Laura Bartlett, who departed Milne Craig Western for English top-flight outfit Reading a year ago.

Former Kelburne player Emily Maguire is also with Reading and goalkeeper Abi Walker is with Canterbury.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge, to improving my hockey skills and learning more about the tactical aspects of the game," said Bunce.

"This is a great opportunity to be involved at the highest level and to focus on achieving one of my all-time dreams."

Bunce hopes to move to London at the start of February to participate in the GB programme, and Reading have expressed an interest in having the Dundonian playing for them.

"I plan to see out the rest of the season indoor and outdoor with Wanderers," she added. "I will travel back to Dundee on Thursdays and return to London on the Sunday night. But, after this season is over, I then plan to play my club hockey down south."
