Richardson moved from the Armed Forces into a role managing the Scotland rugby team before taking over at the Lions helm in the wake of the disastrous tour to New Zealand led by Sir Clive Woodward. He steered the Lions through the 2009 tour to South Africa an last year’s trip to Australia and is hopeful is completing the Lions treble in 2017 in New Zealand.

But for the past fortnight he has been looking after the athletes and their friends and family in Glasgow and in this latest episode of the ‘Scotsman at the Games’ he explains how he has moved into the burgeoning industry of major event management.
