Video: father of Scottish rugby star Matt Scott on flying out to watch his son help beat Australia on his debut

It was a victory that will only be truly savoured by the long-suffering older generation of Scots rugby fans, according to Sean Scott who flew out to Australia to watch his son help Scotland record a memorable win over the Wallabies.

It was only the second time ever, and the first time since 1982, that Scotland have triumphed over the Australians with a last minute penalty by Greig Laidlaw enough to seal a 9 - 6 victory.

Upon hearing that his son Matt had made it into the team for the match in Newcastle, Sean packed his bags and made the long flight down under looking forward to seeing the Scotland centre make his first full debut.

Sean said: “I know that there was a few grown men that shed a tear at the final whistle.

“As people who have followed Scotland for a long time know, this doesn’t happen very often.”
