Victory for Rocks ahead of Plymouth play-off

BASKETBALL: Glasgow Rocks ended the BBL’s regular season with an 87-66 win over bottom side Durham Wildcats, and the final standings handed the Kelvin Hall outfit a clash with Plymouth in the play-off quarter-finals – with the first leg in Devon on Thursday.

Sterling Davis’ men had to battle to see off the league’s whipping boys, who cut Glasgow’s lead from 13 to three in the third quarter before a 15-0 run put the hosts out of reach.

The Rocks coach said: “It’s been tough to motivate the guys with almost nothing at stake since we clinched fifth place.

“But I’ve been trying to get them to focus on what lies ahead and we put on a better performance than of late.”

Danny Huffor led Glasgow with 21 points.

League champions Newcastle lost 100-74 to Guildford in a play-off dress rehearsal, while Leicester secured the runners-up spot after their Saturday win over the Heat.
