Veteran champions hang on to their crowns

SANDY Pirie (Hazlehead) and Duncan McCallum (Stirling), both defending champions, retained their titles in the Scottish Seniors Golfing Society Super-Seniors championship at the Largs Kelburn course.

Pirie won the overall event (65+ years) while McCallum was again the best in the 70+ category. Pirie was trailing six players after a first round of 79 but the 1967 Walker Cup player patiently compiled a 73 in round two, which took him past all of the others with 152. McCallum's winning total was 166 with scores of 85 and 81.
