Versatile duo return to boost Raith

FIRST Division.

• RAITH ROVERS v ROSS COUNTY

These sides meet for the second time in three days with the Kirkcaldy side in better shape than they were in Saturday's 1-0 defeat in Dingwall. The versatile Stephen Simmons and striker Gregory Tade are both available after suspension, however Mark Campbell will again be missing through the injuries sustained in a recent car crash. Iain Davidson and Jonny Russell are also both still missing through knocks.

Rovers travel for a Scottish Cup quarter-final with Dundee this weekend, however that has been put to the back of manager John McGlynn's mind. "Taking points from this game is all that I am thinking about just now and I will start focusing on the cup tie after the final whistle against Ross County," said McGlynn.

Second-placed Ross County are also on cup duty this weekend when they face Hibs, however there will be no slacking from Derek Adams' side as they look to cut Dundee's lead at the top to just three points. County's front two at the weekend, Steven Craig and Andy Barrowman, may be rested after making their return from injury in that game with Michael Gardyne and Gary Wood in line to replace them.

Adams said: "We played well in Saturday's game at our place and I will be looking for us to take that form into this game. Three points from this game takes us closer to emulating last season's points total and that is my only aim in the league at the moment."

• AIRDRIE UNITED v DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC

Airdrie host only their second home league game of 2010 and the match gives them a quick chance of revenge over a Dunfermline side that defeated them 2-0 on Saturday. Airdrie sit bottom of the table, eight points below Ayr United, and manager Kenny Black knows a win is vital.

Black said: "We know Ayr's recent good run has increased pressure on us but we have nine out of our 14 remaining games at home. A win will hopefully be the start of some positive momentum of our own being generated."

Defender David Nixon and midfielder Darren Smith are added to the squad that faced Dunfermline on Saturday, however Alan Trouten remains absent through suspension.

The East End Park side could lift themselves over Partick Thistle and into fifth place with a win and manager Jim McIntyre was pleased to see his side dig deep for the three points at the weekend.

"We ground out a winning result on Saturday and I would imagine it will be exactly the same in this game," said McIntyre. "The players adapted well to the conditions at the weekend when we had to play the ball a lot longer than normal and scrap for things. Airdrie will be fired up for this one and we will need to have to at least match their work-rate."

Defender Greg Ross, midfielder Graeme Holmes and striker Ross Campbell are added to McIntyre's squad, however centre-back Neil McGregor, midfielder Stephen Glass and striker Graeme Bayne are all expected to miss out through injury.

• INVERNESS CT v QUEEN OF THE SOUTH

Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Queen of the South will both be looking to grab the win that will move them within six points of leaders Dundee when they meet at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium. Terry Butcher's side blew a two- goal lead against the Dens Park side on Saturday, however their feeling of disappointment at only getting a draw will be gone by kick-off. "The players will be out to make amends and I will have them lifted before the game starts," said Butcher.

"There is nothing we can do about the Dundee game now and the next important thing is to ensure we win against Queen of the South."

Caley Thistle have no injury or suspension worries, although Butcher may give David Proctor a starting slot after being on the bench at the weekend. The visitors welcome back midfielder Rocco Quinn and striker Leon Knight from suspension and they are added to the squad which defeated Partick Thistle at the weekend. Defender David Lilley is a doubt because of the groin injury he suffered in that game, although he will travel to the Highlands to take part in a fitness test before kick-off. The experienced Marvin Andrews in line for a starting place if Lilley cannot make it. Manager Gordon Chisholm said: "I have asked the players for the same again after defeating Partick with a good solid performance. I am delighted we have Rocco and Leon available again as we will need everyone on hand to us as we go through an extremely busy March period."

Former striker Sean O'Connor has not signed on for the club with Chisholm describing reports he had as "premature."
