Uddingston end Dunfermline's cup quest

DUNFERMLINE'S quest to reach the Scottish Cup Final for the second year on the trot was wrecked yesterday when they were crushed by Uddingston in a one-sided semi at Bothwell Castle Policies.

The Lanarkshire side will now square up to Stirling County, who brushed aside Stoneywood-Dyce at New Williamfield in an all-Division One affair.

Dunfermline were shot out for just 77 before watching the hosts coast home in only 18 overs. Former Scotland all-rounder Paul Hoffmann staved off any chance of a fightback by slamming 42 in 39 balls. Ian McGhee and Josh Edwards emerged as the County heroes, taking advantage of Stoneywood's shakiest display of the season. McGhee struck 58 to propel the home side to 199 for nine, then Edwards claimed four wickets as the Aberdonians were dismissed for 137.
