The leading three players who finish in the top 10 and ties and who are not already exempt will book their place at Royal Birkdale, where Sweden’s Henrik Stenson will defend the Claret Jug won in record-breaking fashion at Royal Troon this year.

Three places will each be up for grabs at the Open de France, the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open and the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.
