Tranent look to finish the job this time

TRANENT'S eye-catching efforts in the League Cup have shown boss Brian Johnston that the Forrester Park side are ready to bounce back from the heartache they suffered in the South Division last season.

After looking favourites for the title for so long, the East Lothian men were pipped at the post by Steve Pittman's strong-finishing Broxburn.

While Paul Harvey is no longer on the books after buying out his contract, Johnston has made a couple of significant summer signings in the shape of Tadg Moriarty and Mark Ellis.

They showed up well in a League Cup campaign that included a 2-0 win over Super League side Bonnyrigg and Johnston believes his side are ready and raring to go in the league.

He said. "We did better in the League Cup section than I had expected and, though we lost 3-0 to Arniston in the section decider, I utilised my squad and gave a few players a rest in that game.

"The league will be ultra-competitive again but I believe we've got a good blend in our team and we are really looking forward to tomorrow."
