Tranent held by Livingston

Tranent 1 Livingston United 1

LIVINGSTON, bottom of the league, matched Tranent all the way and deserved a point.

Tranent's opening goal on 14 minutes came from Paul Parkin's set piece to the far post from where Gary Small looped a header over keeper Andrew Sheridan.

Livingston's equaliser arrived on 58 minutes. Carlo Santi was given space in the left channel and unleashed his shot across the trialist keeper into the net.

With 20 minutes to play, Tranent introduced an additional striker, Mark Stevenson, for the injured Michael Lawrie.

Murphy then almost got the winner on 82 minutes from MacAloney's corner but Steven Tait cleared off the line with the keeper beaten.

Disappointed Tranent manager Brian Johnstone's said: "Our slim hopes of title and promotion have receded with this result.

"We must pick ourselves up for the Fife and Lothians Cup tie against Livingston on Wednesday night."
