Tranent arrange derby with Haddington after being filmed by Sky

TRANENT turned on the style in front of the Sky Sports cameras when they faced Berwick in a friendly ahead of their glamour Scottish Cup clash with Celtic.

Now manager Brian Johnston is looking for his side to keep up the good work in a hastily-arranged South Division match with local rivals Haddington at Forrester Park tomorrow.

Both sides should have been in action in the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup but Tranent's trip to Glenrothes is off due to the weather and Haddington's home clash with Rosyth has also fallen by the wayside because of burst pipes at Millfield Park. Johnston jumped at the chance to face Berwick on Tuesday and was delighted with his team's performance in a game that was filmed for 45 minutes by Sky Sports as part of their preview package for Sunday's tie at Shielfield Park.

"I had a few players missing, including Kenny Munro and Paul Harvey, and had to bring in two players from the under-21s," said the Tranent boss.

"But we produced a really good performance, taking the lead through Michael Lawrie and holding on to that until ten minutes to go.

"With the Sky cameras there, it was a good thing for the club and we are all looking forward to seeing what they show ahead of the Berwick versus Celtic game on Sunday."

Edinburgh referee George Mathison took charge of the friendly, admitting he'd spent a nervous 45 minutes in front of the cameras. "Thankfully, there were no controversial incidents as I did not fancy seeing myself on Sky Sports having made a mistake," he said.
