Tottenham Hotspur 1 - 0 Bolton Wanderers: Spurs one step from Champions League

TOTTENHAM took one more step towards Champions League qualification with a narrow win thanks to a superb strike from Tom Huddlestone.

With seven minutes of the first half left, the midfielder picked up Benoit Assou-Ekotto's pass to hammer a 22-yard strike past Jussi Jaaskelainen in the Bolton goal. Spurs now go into Wednesday's match at Manchester City knowing a win would guarantee them Champions League football.

Birmingham City 2 Burnley 1

NINTH-placed Birmingham were two up at half time thanks to an own goal from goalkeeper Brian Jensen and Christian Benitez's first strike. Steven Thompson pulled one back but it was too little, too late for Burnley.

Portsmouth 3 Wolves 1

ARUNA Dindane headed Portsmouth ahead from Michael Brown's cross. Kevin Doyle levelled, but John Utaka restored Pompey's lead before half-time. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake missed a good chance to equalise before Brown made the points safe.
