Top golfers aim fire at Elliot Saltman

WORLD No 1 Lee Westwood is baffled why Elliot Saltman wasn't hit with a global ban for being found guilty of cheating after watching the Scot play in a third-tier event in Spain last week as he weighs up an appeal.

Saltman has also come under criticism from Martin Kaymer, the second-ranked player and USPGA champion, who said he couldn't look himself in the mirror if he knew he'd knowingly cheated on the golf course.

Both players aired their views on Special Report, a Sky Sports News HD programme last night that also saw Saltman speak for the first time since he became only the third player to be banned for cheating by the European Tour three weeks ago.

The 28-year-old has until next Tuesday to lodge an appeal.
