Tom Daley makes Scottish diving debut today

OLYMPIAN Tom Daley hopes to lead Britain’s divers to international glory at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh, as he makes his competitive debut in Scotland.

The 18-year-old, who took a bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics, will compete in the third leg of the Fina World Diving Series, starting today.

The three-day competition pits the eight-strong British team against some of the world’s best divers from nine countries.

Daley said he was “excited” to be in Scotland for the event, the first time he has competed in the country.

He said yesterday: “It’s good to be here practising in the Commonwealth Pool to a home crowd again, my first world series and the first senior international since the Games.

“It’s weird because there’s been so much going on; filming Splash and my A-level exams coming up and getting back in the pool.”

Daley said he considered his Russian and Mexican opponents to be his main rivals in Sunday’s 10m individual dive event, tickets for which have sold out.
