Three new arrivals as Bo'ness build for tilt at three in a row

SUPER LEAGUE champions Bo'ness United have begun shaping their squad as they target a third title in a row.

Boss Alan McGonigal has three new signings in place - with more to come.

Midfielder Lee Duffy has been brought in from Premier League side Glenrothes, while striker John Stewart, the ex-Aberdeen, Falkirk and Queen of the South player has also joined.

To complete the trio, keeper Scott Ritchie turned down offers from Morton and Airdrie to come to Newtown Park.

On the way out from Bo'ness, though, is midfielder John Fraser, who has been placed on the transfer list.

Meanwhile, Derek Murray, assistant to former Bo'ness boss Willie Newbigging, has had his exit from the club confirmed.

Newbigging had resigned as manager last month after learning that Murray would be released when McGonigal returned to the club. Murray, who has been in the Far East on SFA business, returned this week to learn his fate during a chat with Newbigging.

He revealed: "I knew something was up weeks ago. There had been dressing-room trouble for some time; not with the players, though, they have been fantastic. But at least I thought someone from the club would have told me themselves. After all, Willie isn't their manager now.

"I thought we did a good job in retaining the title last year and we were looking forward to next season. Others, though, obviously had other plans. I wish the players all the best for next year."

Bonnyrigg gaffer Max Christie, meanwhile, has been busy for the season ahead. Ross Archibald has come in from Spartans, while there's a welcome return for central defender Jamie Ewart from Berwick Rangers. Calum Martin has come in from Arniston in what appears a swap deal with Scott Devlin. Bonnyrigg have placed Craig Fell on the transfer list along with fellow full back David Caine. Sean Martin has also left the club.

Bathgate have signed Phil McGrath from Livingston, while others are in the pipeline. In addition, Striker Alex Lurinski has signed for East Stirlingshire, and Musselburgh boss David McGlynn has signed up local lad Jack Wilson.
