Three-in-a-row for Loretto golfers

GOLF: Loretto School made it three wins in a row at the Independent Schools Golf Association Home Internationals at Royal Portrush in Ireland.

The Musselburgh school faced Monmouth of Wales, Millfield of England and home hopes Coleraine Academical. The format was four-man teams competing over two rounds of strokeplay – the highest score each day was discarded – and Loretto’s Ben Skinner opened with an excellent two-under-par 66 over the Valley course. Alexander Wilson added a 70 and Carl Kolloss and Sami Bouzabia both shot 72 to give the Scottish team a four-over-par score and a three-shot halfway lead over Millfield.

The final round was on the Dunluce course, venue for this summer’s Irish Open. Kolloss posted a terrific 70, Wilson added a 73, Skinner a 76 and Bouzabia an 82 for a seven-over team score and a three-shot win over Millfield. Coleraine was third and Monmouth fourth.
