Thistle fight back for draw

Civil Service Strollers 1 Lothian Thistle 1

PRIOR to this game a minute's silence was observed as a mark of respect for a young Strollers amateur player who passed away during the week.

With Thistle having three players suspended for the game, manager Fraser Ogilvie had to name himself in the starting line up.

Craig Hume had a chance to score in the opening minutes when an Ogilvie cross was whipped in but Hume's diving header went just wide of the goal.

Ogilvie then had a chance to score himself when he was left unmarked at the back post, but his powerful header was saved well by Ramsey. Both teams had very few chances in the opening half as slack passing and slack defending by both teams made for an ugly game of football.

Strollers changed things for the second half as Forbes replaced Millar. It didn't take long for Forbes to make his presence known and he started to cause the Lothian defence problems. Strollers did break the deadlock mid-way through the first half when a short free kick was played to Wilson and his powerful shot nestled into the bottom corner of the net.

It looked like Strollers were going to take all three points but, with only minutes remaining Hume broke into the Strollers box and was tripped by Bain. Young stepped up and smashed the ball into the net to ensure a share of the spoils. Strollers, though, remain undefeated in ten games.
