Third Division: Three-goal fightback earns Montrose draw

Montrose came back from the dead at Links Park to deny Stranraer the chance to go top of the table.

Sean Winter, Craig Malcolm and Armand One had put Stranraer 3-0 up in 49 minutes, but Paul Tosh pulled one back after 53 minutes and Ross McCord and Stephen McNally had the scores level with 13 minutes still to play. Neither side could find a winner, however,.

The Montrose player/manager Steven Tweed said: "It was a marvellous fightback and in the last few minutes I was expecting us to win. We gave away some soft goals but the players stuck together and were rewarded."

Elgin City saw off visitors East Stirlingshire 2-0 to climb to sixth in the table.

Craig Gunn put the home side ahead after just two minutes and while East Stirlingshire had the better of the second half, however they failed to force an equaliser. City wrapped up the win when Stewart Beveridge fouled David Niven in the box and player/assistant manager Barry Wilson made it 2-0 from the penalty spot.

City manager Ross Jack said: "We're continuing to look upwards with a view to earning a play-off spot."
