Third Division: Arbroath grab a point as Spiders squander chances

Third Division leaders Arbroath sneaked out of Hampden with a barely-deserved point following a 1-1 draw with hosts Queen's Park. The day had begun well for the Red Lichties when Gavin Swankie took a free kick on the left after just four minutes, and his wicked curling delivery, along with the merest of touches from Gayfield captain Stuart Malcolm, saw the ball nestle in the net.

The home side, going for a fifth win in a row, should have equalised long before they did, their goal coming just before half time when winger David Murray hared into the box and Malcolm sent him tumbling - Martin McBride scoring from the spot.

Albion Rovers moved into second spot after defeating East Stirlingshire 2-0 with Robert Love scoring in the first half and Steven Canning in injury time at the end of the game after Shire sub Kevin Cawley had been red-carded.

Stranraer slipped to third place as their home game with Montrose finished 2-2 with the Gable Endies' twice going in front. Conor Thomson and Daryl Nicol scoring for Steven Tweed's side with Craig Malcolmand substitute Sean Winter levelling.

Elgin held on to a promotion play-off spot and put a dampener on Jim Duffy's debut as Clyde boss when they hit back to force a 3-3 draw after the Bully Wee had been 3-1 ahead. Duffy said: "I cannot fault the players for their effort but it was disappointing to lose a 3-1 lead. Nerves kicked in which is understandable after recent results."

Annan triumphed 3-2 at Berwick with Rangers manager Jimmy Crease, saying: "We need to put together a great run to get moving up the table again. On current form I cannot see it"
