Third Division: Albion Rovers seize chance

ALBION Rovers put pressure on fellow promotion challengers Arbroath and Stranraer to win last night in their re-arranged games by defeating Clyde 1-0 at Broadwood.

Chris Boyle, who netted late against Annan at the weekend for the Coatbridge side, scored early in this one as he drilled home after 19 minutes. Rovers could even afford the luxury of a missed penalty in injury time when Chris Hamilton's spot kick was saved by Bryn Halliwell as the home side finished with ten men when substitute John Sweeney was red carded.

Queen's Park made it seven wins in eight games to move by defeating Annan 3-0 at Hampden. The home side took the lead through Michael Daly on 27 minutes, then substitute Jamie Longworth doubled the advantage on 58 minutes, before fellow replacement Craig Smith sealed the win late on.

Berwick Rangers and Montrose looked to be heading for a goalless draw at Shielfield until the home side's Paul Currie popped up with a late goal to win the game 1-0. Currie curled home the winner from the edge of the box in the dying seconds to keep the points south of the Border.
