Testimonial time for Craig

PRESTON ATHLETIC'S long-serving captain and central defender Craig Scott is being honoured tonight with a Testimonial Match against a Celtic XI at the Pennypit Stadium, Prestonpans, kick-off 7.30pm.

Scott has been with Preston Athletic for ten seasons which, in this day and age, is very special because players at all levels tend to change clubs with great regularity.

"Craig was my first ever signing when I took over as manager," said Stevie Myatt, who is also still the manager of Preston Athletic. "

I received a telephone call from Willie Pearson who was the manager of a very successful Easthouses under-21 side and he recommended a boy named Craig Scott who had played very well against Easthouses. I made contact with Craig, we met at the Pennypit along with his dad and he signed there and then for Preston Athletic and I had not even seen him playing!

"I am obviously delighted that he joined us because in the past ten seasons he has been the lynch-pin of our side. He has played right back, centre half, right midfield, central midfield, centre forward when we are chasing games and on occasions, when our goalkeeper was injured, he even played in goals.

Preston would like any players who have played with Craig during the past ten years to attend tonight to be part of the celebrations.

Celtic, under the guidance of Stevie Frail, Chris McCart and Tommy McIntyre, are bringing through a squad of 18 players, most of them from their highly successful double-winning Under 19 team.

The game kicks-off at 7.30pm with admission 5 (2 cons).
