Tennis: James must Ward off Querrey in winner-takes all set at Queen's Club

British No.2 James Ward was set to face a one-set shootout with defending champion Sam Querrey for a place in the AEGON Championships quarter-finals when play resumes this afternoon at Queen's Club.

Ward, the world No.216, had just levelled the third-round tie at 3-6, 6-3 and seemed to have all the momentum when play was suspended last night due to bad light.

The action was due to resume at 1pm today and the prize on offer is a showdown with Adrian Mannarino, conqueror of Juan Martin del Potro, in the last eight.

It was a thrilling end to a day which saw top the three seeds - all of them former Queen's Club champions - Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Andy Roddick all reach the quarter-finals.

Querrey appeared to be struggling with an elbow injury but the big-serving American broke Ward for a 5-3 lead before closing out the set.

The second set followed a similar pattern, remaining with serve, until game six when Ward converted his second break point to lead 4-2.

With the centre court crowd on their feet, Ward levelled the match at one set all before the players were forced off.

Murray will face the Croatian Marin Cilic after coming from a break down in both sets to defeat Janko Tipsarevic 6-4, 7-6 (7/3).

"I played him once on grass in the Davis Cup (in 2007) and that match went five sets. He serves big, he's a big guy who hits a big ball," said Murray.

Roddick was due to open the centre court action against Spain's Fernando Verdasco. Murray and Cilic are second on, before French Open champion and top seed Rafael Nadal goes up against France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
